News #5

Hi guys!!! It has been foreeever since I’ve logged in/looked at/posted on this blog. I definitely want to get back to reviewing music again. It’s a new year with new goals. Plus, my tastes in music has definitely changed a little, so it’d be interesting to see how that compares with my old interests. With being gone so long, I have gotten interested in a lot of new artists and lost interests in others.

Artists to Add:

Tsubaki Factory

File:Tsubaki Factory - Hatsukoi Sunrise promo.jpg

Since I added their sister group, kobushi factory, why not add Tsubaki as well? I admit, they don’t impress me as much as kobushi does. Kobushi just has better personalities, vocals, music, etc, but I admit that tsubaki has been improving a lot so they are worth giving a try at least!

Crayon Pop

I KNOW. What is a kpop group doing on this blog? The HORROR. I have been increasningly enjoying a lot of kpop girl groups lately, but even before this new craze, crayon pop has always been one of my favorite groups. They’re silly and a little quirky. Due to that, they don’t get a lt of attention and are often labeled “weird.” Despite this, I am a huge fan of theirs and think they should be added.

Image result for stellar kpop

Another kpop group! Stellar is a small 4 unit girl group, and like Crayon Pop, they are seriously underrated. When their cute concept wasn’t working, they turned to a more mature style to gain attention. This came with extreme backlash from the public and now this group is kind of hated a bit. Despite Stellar’s mature themes, their music is actually very good. They have an interesting and unique sort of synthpop style.

Thinking About Adding

Predia: This group was requested, and I have taken a peek at their music. They all seem to have good vocals and I love that they embrace a more mature image instead of going for the typical youthful idol thing

Gfriend: This is a kpop group again. Although I’m not blown away by Gfriend’s music, their dances and concepts are always really cool

WJSN (Cosmic Girls): This large kpop group is very cutsey which I normally don’t go for, but they have a very “cosmic” or “spacey” quality to their music which I like

Not Reviewing Anymore

Dream5: They are disbanding soon and my interest over the years has gone down

Momoiro Clover Z: My interest with momoclo also dwindled down. I think them doing blackface was the last straw for me honestly…

Sakura Gakuin: Once all of my favorites graduated, I lost interest in this group which is such as shame. They were just a generic idol group, but their songs were so lively and the members had spirit

Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku: See Sakura Gakuin

Weather Girls: I really liked this taiwanese-japanese group but it seems that are not active anymore : (

News #3

Since I’ve been on hiatus for so long until now, my interests in music have changed. I think it’s time to change my review list.

I will be adding some new artists!

Ever since Follow Me, they’ve caught my eye. I’ve been listening to some of their music, and I like it! Their dancing is awesome, as well as their PV’s. They’ve become one of my new favorite artists.

Berryz Koubou

In memory of Berryz disbandment, I thought it would be nice to go back and listen to all of their music. This is the group that got me into jpop, and I have followed them for many years! Also, I have reviewed pretty much all of         C-ute’s stuff.

Mano Erina

I already reviewed one of her albums, I should just finish the rest of her music since she no longer releases music!

I will also be suspending some artists:

Sakura Gakuin: I don’t know, after Ayami, Ayaka, and Airi left, my interest in this group has plummeted. Their last two singles didn’t really impress me either.

Momorio Clover Z: Same with Sakura Gakuin, I haven’t really been caught up with momoclo is a long time.

Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku: I was never really into this group, but I don’t want to completely drop them because I like them still.

Weather Girls: Where have these girls been?

Cheeky Parade: Same reason as Momoclo and Sakura Gakuin.

I will be getting rid of the artists:

SUPER☆GiRLS: I’m sorry. I really hate their music style. I tried to like them, but cutesy generic Idol pop is not for me.

i☆Ris: Same reason for SUPERGiRLS.

That’s all for now!

Momoiro Clover Z: 5th Dimension

NEO Stargate 5/5

So this is the song that the group decided to use to promote their album. I say that it was a good choice! This song is very strong, and leaves a strong impact on you. The beginning, with the dramatic music is unnecessary in my opinion. It’s way too long. I wish they had cut it out for the CD, but oh well. This song has come really catchy parts. I like the part in the beginning (the high notes), as well as the music after that, which makes me want to dance. My favorite part is the Maiagatte part in the chorus.  The solo’s near the end of the song are well done. This song is beyond amazing. The lyrics, and the meaning of the song is so deep! I love it. Way to go momoclo, for creating a beyond catchy song that’s deep as well.

Kasou Dystopia 5/5

After the dramatic NEO Stargate, this song is much more lighthearted and playful. The chorus is extremely catchy. The members sing the high notes well. I love the part after the chorus where they sing hikare hikare… and all of their voices blend and harmonize. Plus, this song has fun instrumentals, and a nice rock edge. This is a solid song, and I like it a lot.

Mourestsu Uchuu KouKyoukyouku Dainana Gakushou “Mugen no Ai” 5/5

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this song yet before. This is the song where I’d say was the turning point in their careers, where everyone started to really look at momoclo. This song is amazing! It has a very heavy rock sound. The instrumental is dark and interesting. I love the chorus. Every time they say mouretsu, I want to scream morestu with them! I love the part where they say ai ai saa. The speaking part is really cool. The vocals, especially Kanako’s, are a little iffy. The PV for this is amazing. One of the groups strongest singles!

5 The Power 5/5

I love the beginning of this song. It starts off slow, then gets faster until there’s a steady beat. The instrumental is amazing. Finally! An idol group that does rap. And they pull it off too. They don’t sound silly or ridiculous. After the rap comes an extremely catchy chorus. Ayaka’s solo in the first chorus doesn’t sound as good as Momoka’s. Momoka hits that Ago o agete uketomeru with perfection. Her high notes sound sooo good! I love the little Mattete Mattete Wait! part. This song is definitely one of my favorites on the album! If only Akari was here, she’d own it.

Rodou Sanka 4.5/5

One of momoclo’s weakest songs. I guess its because it just doesn’t have the impact of their other songs. Like, it doesn’t have very much variation. I love the semi rapping in the beginning. The instrumental is also very nice to listen to, with all of the instruments. This would sound really good live. The chorus is still really catchy; they sound really good during the high notes. In conclusion, I like this song, it’s just not one of my favorites.

Get Down 4/5

This song also has an interesting and funky instrumental. Is that a xylophone? I fell like this song could have been awesome, with the cool music and all, but the girls sound like chipmunks… the verses are way too high for them! They sound too squeaky, and it gives me a headache. I love the Get down parts though. Those are really catchy. But the progressing ah’s are a little repetitive. This song is decent, but definitely could have been better if thought out more.

Otome Sensou 5/5

A lot of people liked Push Push better when this was released with it. They claimed that this was boring. How is this boring? It has a very cool instrumental, with fast lyrics. The Makiokose…part (the chorus) is really catchy. Momoka’s Saijoukyuu no Happiest is amazing. The ballad part near the end is amazing. It’s haunting, and beautiful. Their vocals sound amazing together. The song is split up into different parts. They all sound different, but somehow it works! It’s long, but it goes by fast. One of my favorite songs.

Tsuki no Gingami Hikousen 5/5

It’s not an idol album without a ballad. Some of their ballads in the past have not impressed me. At all. But this ballad is a ballad done right! The instrumental is beautiful, not boring. The vocals are strong, not soft and lifeless. The chorus is the strongest part. Momoka’s Gingami hikousen yozora ni ukabete is off the wall amazing! She sounds beautiful. The speaking part seems a little unnecessary; but they had to put something in there right? This is a very strong ballad. I have to say that this is their strongest ballad!

This is a song I’m disappointing in because it had soo much potential. The instrumental is interesting and otherworldly. It reminds me of LOST CHILD. But the chorus absolutely ruins the whole song! The notes are too high for the girls, and it sounds awful. It gives me a headache. This could have been an amazing song. Why did this get a MV? One of their other songs could have done better.

Joukyu Momogatari -Carpe diem- 5/5

Okay. We get a break from all of the rock and techno for a more laid back song. This song has a sort of latin/swing and mysterious feel to it. I love it! The chorus is amazing. But I think the vocals are the best part of this song. They sing so fast! Just like the did in a lot of their older songs. Like, there’s points in the song where I’m like how? JUST HOW. Ayaka’s part is really the part that shines. dubidubidabadadubidubi. What even is that? I hear Shiori and Reni in here, more than in any other song. It’s nice. The very ending part is cool as well. The composition for this song, and the energy is beyond amazing. This song is a combination of their old sound, with their new sound, and it’s by far one of the best tracks on the album.

Soratobu! Ozashiki Ressha 4.5/5

The guy from Z Denetsu is back!! In all seriousness, I like the train sounds. It’s a nice effect. This song is very childish. I like childish. momoclo does it well, but I’m not sure if I like this a lot. I don’t like the way they sing the verses. They sound 5 here. If they sung it normally, I would have liked it more. Despite the childish verses, the chorus is really catchy, but can get annoying and repetitive. Especially the let’s shout part. They HII part after the chorus is really cute. Overall, it’s a solid song, but a little annoying after a while.

Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi tachi yo 5/5

Momoclo’s recent single. It’s definitely darker than their past songs. The instrumental is sooo catchy. I can listen to it all day without the vocals. The verses are really strong here. I love the bridge, where they say Ikanaide…nakanaide. It’s haunting. And the part where they sing Soshite doko… is pretty with the piano. It really adds a warm feeling. I love the 1 2 And 3 4 5 part. In conclusion, I think that this is one of momoclo’s strongest songs. It’s way different than what they’ve been doing!

Hai to Daimond! 4/5

And here we have another ballad. Can I just say that the beginning of the song with the piano is lovely. It’s the best part of the song. I think that this is a good ballad, but its not one of their best. I like the verses, the chorus is okay, with the harmonization. The biggest problem in this song is the vocals. Ayaka and Kanako sound really strained on those high notes, even Momoka. It makes me cringe. I think that Gingami and this should have switched places, because this doesn’t leave a big impact.

I have been out of the momoclo loop for a while. They got popular too fast, and I couldn’t keep up. Now, I’m back, listening to their new material, so that I can love them again. Battle and Romance is an extremely hard album to beat. It was full of awesome songs. This album is amazing, but I think that B&R is still my favorite.

Momoclo sort of has a new sound. Their new sound, I guess I would describe as otherworldly, techno, maybe even rock. It’s completely different from their lighthearted and silly idol songs. While I miss those silly songs the most, their new songs are still pretty good.

They’re getting really popular. I got into momoclo because they were crazy and silly. I hope they stay that way, despite increasing popularity, because I know groups that cater their music to their fans, instead of themselves, or don’t even try to make an effort anymore because they’re popular anyway.

In short, this was an enjoyable album. It’s worth the money. I’m excited to see where momoclo is going to go from here on out.

Battle & Romance: Momoiro Clover Z

(I found this in my drafts. I can’t believe I never finished it! Well, I’m finishing now)

Z Denetsu ~Owarinaki Kakumei~ 4.5/5

*I always loved this song when it came out as a single because it reminds me of the power rangers! I love the whole red! yellow! thing; how everyone get’s their own line to sing. To me, Momoka did her solo line the best; she has such a strong voice! I love the “blue! ah…” part and the random guy talking! Some people says it sounds of place, but I think it fits perfectly! I also love all of the speaking parts. The only thing that bothers me about this song is that without Akari, they sound too high pitched sometimes.

*This is a really good song! But sadly I don’t listen to it that much! I love the whole space-ish feel to this song though and how the vocals are pretty low. I think I should listen to it more.

Mirai Bowl 4.5/5

*I love love loved this song when it came out! This remade version isn’t really that much different. In the beginning, instead of Akari singing “baka”, everyone sings it. But I love the Akari version and when everyone sings it so that’s not a problem. However, there are some parts where members take over Akari’s singing/speaking parts and it sounds so…wrong, like the “hora hora” part. Also at the end, Ayaka takes over Akari’s rap and I’m sorry ayaka please don’t ever rap your voice is too cute for it. They should of given the rap to Reni or Shiorin. But overall, the song is a nice remake.

Wani to Shampoo 5/5 (can I give this a 100?)

*OMG how can you hate this? This is the best, if not the best track on the album and one of my favorite momclo songs! I love how the song is talking about summer homework, and how it piled up and it’s too hard to finish because I can totally relate! I always wait until the last minute to do my summer reading. Reason #2 why I love momoclo. They talk about Alligators and homework;they are so random! Instead of the typical song: Oh I fall in love but your so far away from me I’ll do my best! crap, this is something unique. How many times was yabai said in this? lol. “Where do you live now?” “yes I do!” Ayaka, you kill me XD

Pinky Jones 4.5/5

*Again, I loved this song when it came out as a single. This remake version is the best song that they remaked because it doesn’t sound that awkward. Shiori (?) did a really good job with Akari’s part. Original is better though!

Kimi no Ato 5/5

*Wow, I have never heard a ballad from momclo yet and as their first ballad this is really good! The music is beautiful, as most ballads are usually. Momoclo usually sings really high notes, so I didn’t think momoclo could ever pull off a ballad, but this is a really nice ballad, coming from them.

D’ no Junjou 4.5/5

*Again, I really liked this song when it came out! It’s pretty rare that momoclo does low notes, and in here they sound pretty nice.

Ame no Tachikara wo 5/5

*I love the whole slightly Arabic (Indian?) and slightly ska feel to this. It reminds me a lot of the kind of music that was in Pinky Jones! This song is so catchy and unique; I love momoclo because they include all types of songs! One of the best tracks on the album!

Orange Note 4.5/5

*I’ve waited forever for this song to be released officially, and I have to say I’m kind of used to the concert, non recorded version. This version sounds so perfected and fake to me. But, it’s still a really good song.

Ikuze! Kaitou Shojo 4/5

*I kind of liked their version with Akari better. But, for a remake, it’s not bad. Akari’s parts in this sound so awkward.

Stardust Serenade 5/5

*At first, this song seems like it wouldn’t be anything special, but it’s actually a nice little tune! Kanako and Momoko sound flawless in this.

Kono Uta 3/5

*I don’t really enjoy this song that much. It’s okay, I guess.

Momoclo no nippon Manzai! 5/5

*In my opinion, this really the best song on the album! It’s energetic, fun, catchy, and is a good way to learn all of Japan’s prefectures, and what’s special about each of them. I love the “Ganbare Ganbare Tohoku” part at the end. It’s nice that they dedicated that part to the victims of the Earthquake/Tsunami.

Solo time!

Datte Ar~rin Nanda Mo~n 3.5/5

*This is Ayaka’s solo, and it’s the perfect song for her! I think it’s cute, and catchy, but after a while, it’s annoying as crap, especially the chorus.

Fall Into Me 5/5

*This is Akari’s solo. I don’t normally listen to rockish/metal songs like this, but this is really good, and it’s the perfect song for Akari. The rapping is catchy, as well as the chorus.

Taiyou to Ebuko 4.5/5

*This is Kanako’s solo. I didn’t expect them to give her this type of song, but it fits her voice nicely. Unfortunately, ‘m not a huge fan of Kanako’s voice. But the song is still catchy.

…Ai Desu ka? 4.5/5

*This is Shiori’s solo. Shiori has the best voice in momoclo; It’s just the right mix of cute. I wish they’d given her a slightly less boring song though.

Koi wa Abare OniTaiko 5/5

*This is Reni’s solo. This song fits Reni so perfectly! This Enka type song is really catchy, especially the chorus. Reni’s voice, though needs some improvement, is soothing. I love it.

Arigatou no Present 2.5/5

*This is Momoka’s solo. Along with Shiori, Momoka has a very nice voice. This song is alright, it’s not really my favorite.

I didn’t think this album was perfect, but it did have some of it’s good points!
