Juice=Juice: First Squeeze! (Disc 2)

WONDERFUL WORLD & ca va? ca va?: See review here

This song’s instrumental is hardcore. Well, more hardcore than the group usually does. I love the instrumental, it’s so interesting. I love the girls all taking turn singing their short solo’s in the versus. The chorus is catchy and has a good rhythm. Most of all, I like Tomoko’s goodbye part! It sounds like some filter was put on Akari and Yuka’s vocals? Other than that, this is a solid song.

Ai ・Ai ・Gasa 5/5

This is a very happy and upbeat J=J like song. Love how the song starts out with the chorus, which is definitely the best part of the song with the repetition of the Ai Ai Ai Gasa part. The solo’s are on point, and everyone pretty much has an equal chance to sing. Love the ending part with the I love you…I want you…I need you which reminds me a lot of AKB’s Heavy Rotation.

Umaretate no Baby Love 5/5

Another upbeat song! Reminds me of ai ai gasa, except less dreamy. This song actually made me check out this album. I usually do not bother too much with album, but once I heard this song live, I had to. Overall, this is one of the best songs on the album to me.

Erabareshi Watashitachi 4/5

This song takes a lot to warm up to. It’s one of those “mature” songs that sounds generic in a way. but if you listen to it, it eventually sticks. Not sure I like those weird shouts in the versus. Also, despite Sayubee having the most lines, Yuka’s vocals fit this song the best. Not bad, but it took me too long to fully like the song.

This song has a lot of energy, I love it! The line distribution is extremely fair, and every member gets their own solo line. Love the chorus part where they sing “Yeah Yeah Yeah Girls be Ambitious.” This song would song great live, but seems to fall a little flat in this recording.

Ai no Diving 4.5/5

Another mature song, like Erabareshi Watashi. I think this song is superior to Erabareshi Watashi. It has a really interesting instrumental, and the chorus repetition of “Ai no Diving, yuukan ai no diving” is really catchy, along with the ending. Akari sounds amazing here as well.

Tick-tock Watashi no Shun 5/5

This is definitely the most fun song on the album! It has a fantasy-like feel to it. The members sing with a lot of emotion in the lyrics, and there are a lot of singing parts. The chorus is really fast paced, and it’s overall one of the best songs on the album that feels like it would be fun live too.

Mirai e, Saa Hashiridase! 3.5/5

Probably my least favorite song out of the whole album. It just sounds really generic, and the vocals sound a little strained in the chorus. I do like how they say their name at the end of the chorus, and the song gives off a feeling of a concert ending song or an encore. This will probably become their song.

Tsuzuiteiku STORY 4/5

The album closes with a ballad. I don’t think the group has done any ballad’s ever before, so for their first ballad, they hit the nail on the head. This song is nothing really special. In fact, it would be really boring, but the members have amazing strong and distinct vocals that really “make” the song. The versus are my favorite part!

So this is the groups first album! It took them many years to release one, but it was so worth it. H!P albums can be a hit or a miss, this one was definitely a hit. The new song’s were overall really great, and had diverse sounds.

Juice=Juice: Wonderful World/ Ça va? Ça va?

File:Juice Juice - Wonderful World lim A.jpg

Wonderful World 4.5/5

This song is my JAM. I wouldn’t normally like songs like this. It’s just so cutesy; even more cuter than are kore shitai. It’s so generic, and there’s nothing special about it, but it makes me feel so light and airy. No one likes this song, and I can completely understand why, but once you listen to it, it’s quite infectious and grows on you. I like the part with the English and the “la la la” parts, though Sayubee and Karin’s vocals get out of hand a bit…

Ça va? Ça va? 4.5/5

I want to rate this 4.25, but I don’t do quarter ratings, so I went with the higher rating because this isn’t the worst I’ve heard from them. This is a rather unique sounding song. It has a sort of European flair to it, which fits the group perfectly. It’s also the complete 180 from the cutesy Wonderful World. I think it’s an odd song, but It’s something different for the group. The “dabada” parts are really annoying, but I’m in love with the low vocals, and the chorus. Not too bad.

While I like at least one song from their past 3 singles, it feels like this group is in sort of a slump after HADAKA was released? I don’t know, their singles have been good, but not amazing. Their upcoming album has really really amazing songs on them, from what I hear. I think they’ll get out of their slump after that album is released.

Romance no Tochuu 5/5

Juice=Juice’s debut song, and what a debut! RNT still keeps their sort of funk/retro sound that they had in Samidare and Watashi ga iu. I love the chorus in this! The verses I feel get a little repetitive towards the last half of the song, but the “Everybody Clap Your Hands” part makes up for it.

Iijiwaru Shinaide Dakishimete yo 5/5

RNT was amazing, but this is even better than that! Once again, Ijiwaru still has that funk sound we’ve heard from Juice=Juice, but amplifies it. This song is so catchy, and Tomoko’s voice is amazing in this!! This single is classy as heck, from the vocals, to the clothing, to the MV, to the dance! probably Juice=Juice’s best song!

Hajimete wo Keikenshuu 4.5/5

I wish this song was a b-side instead of an a-side. Compared to what J=J has released do far, this seems so out of place. The opening has an awesome rock sound, and then it just turns into the normal “Cute” idol sound. For being closer to the idol side, this song is actually really great. The guitar goes well with the song. It’s just a surprise because I didn’t think of Juice=Juice as a group who would release this type of music.

HADAKA no HADAKA no HADAKA no Kiss 5/5

I love this song as well! To me, It’s up there with Ijiwaru! Even though J=J doesn’t really have an official “style” or “genre” yet, It keeps with their overall style that they’ve been doing so far. It sort of has a latin influence to it’s instrumental. I absolutely love the chorus! Even the dance is really great!

Are Kore Shitai! 4.5/5

Another “idol-ish” song? What is this?? Unlike Hajimete wo Keikenchuu, this isn’t as catchy. I like the instrumental, which is pretty nice. And the chorus is pretty adorable. Once agian, for an Idol-ish song, this is pretty great. It’s not catchy on the first listen, and takes a while to like, but is a pretty nice song. Again, If it wasn’t for the cute dance and MV, I think it should have been a b-side.

Black Butterfly 3.5/5

Here we have a very cool, tango influenced song, which fits right in with Juice=Juice’s sound. This song showcases one of Juice=Juice’s best instrumentals. However, the verses are a little boring, with the chorus being the main selling point.

Kaze ni Fukarete 4/5

Here is a more cool sounding song. The pace of the song reminds me of Hadaka a lot. I think the instrumental is really cool. What is that bagpipes? And the vocals are pretty awesome. Other than that, nothing too special going on here. This song suffers what Black butterfly suffered. The verses are a little boring, with the chorus being the main selling point.

Senobi 4.5/5

I think that this song is very Juice=Juice. It seems to fit in with their sound nicely. The chorus kind of saves this song. It’s the kind of the best part of the song, with the “WOW WOW’s” (Which are so freakin’ catchy) and the awesome ‘Aitai’ part after. Other than that, I think this song is a little bland. Originally, I liked this song over Date jai nai, but that kind of changed the more I listened to this.

Date jai nai yo uchi no jinsei wa 5/5

According to the majority of fans, this is kind of the less liked song of the single. I agree, but I play this song much more than Senobi. and I have no idea why. This song is nothing special, and sounds like a rushed J=J song, but I really like it. I love the energy of the song, and the dance with all of the arm movements is pretty cool!

Overall, I felt like Juice=juice has formed into a nice group. Their 2013 singles were better, however. In 2014, It seems like the group kind of experimented a little too much. They pretty much had all double A-sides in 2014, and I found myself only loving one of the A-sides every time from each single. Don’t get me wrong, experimentation is good! But you have to establish your sound first before going crazy. I thought J=J’s sound was that brass/jazzy kind of sound, but UFA doesn’t seem to be very consistent with that. Let’s see how this group fares in 2015!

Juice=Juice : All Indies singles reviewed!

Watashi ga Iu Mae ni Dakishimenakya ne 5/5

When this song first came out, everyone was blown away. This song is such a good first indie’s song! So different than anything I’ve seen from H!P’s groups. Of course Juice=Juice isn’t the first to adopt this brass/Sax sounds, (Mano Erina’s Saxophone Santa song comes to mind). Not only is the song catchy, the dance is also fun and decent. Still one of Juice=Juice’s greatest songs!

Samidare Bijo ga Samidareru 4.5/5

This song still has the same sound/feel as their first single, but more toned down. I love the chorus of this song! Especially Tomoko’s parts. Other than that, I don’t really find myself listening to this song the whole way through. It seems like something is… missing?

Ten Made Nobore! (Juice=Juice version) 4/5

For being a very cliche idol sounding song, this isn’t that bad at all. It’s catchy, especially the part right before the chorus. Even the dance is fun. This is a nice little song, but I don’t see myself listening to it much.

News #2

Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been so busy with college stuff and graduation. It’ll be Summer soon. Hopefully I can listen to music and review stuff more often.

Since I reviewed all of C-ute, Ieiri Leo, and S/mileage’s stuff, except for their recent singles, I think it’s time to add some new artists.

File:Start Promo.jpg

Silent Siren

I recently just discovered this Idol-band. Silent Siren is a 4 member bandol made up of magazine models. These girls are seriously cute! Don’t let their cuteness fool you. The girls claim to play their own instruments, and I believe them unless I see proof. The lead singer, Suu, has a great voice. Their songs include a wide range of genres such as rock, ballads, pop, and much more. I will be also posting lyrics from SS since nobody seems to have them romanized anywhere!

H!P’s new group. I have been watching them closely, and I love them! Their debut single is amazing. I eve learned part of the dance, (yes, I do dance a bit). I also like their second indies single.

File:Buono! - Sherbet Promo.jpg

Since pretty much all of C-ute’s and S/mileage’s singles are done, for the most part, It’s buono’s turn since they have the next shortest discography in H!P. They have been inactive lately. I love this trio, and I hope a new single from them comes out!

BRIGHT has disbanded….. *_____* I loved this group! I’m so sad that they won’t be releasing anymore… so I won’t be reviewing them anymore except maybe their old stuff…

A new artist has been added to the thinking about/want to review list

  • E-girls

Yeah… that’s about it. I’ll try to write more.
